Lincoln 2009 - Single Uncirculated Coins
|

The 2009 Lincoln Cent is issued with four new reverse
designs in honor of the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth. The
first Lincoln Cent was issued in 1909 in honor of the 100
year anniversary of Lincoln's birth. From 1909 through
1958 these coins were minted with wheat leaves on the
reverse (referred to as "wheat cents"). From 1959 through
2008 the coins were minted with the Lincoln Memorial on
the reverse (referred to as "memorial cents").
2009 brings a departure to these coins with four unique
reverse designs. The first of these designs is a log cabin,
which represents Lincoln's birthplace.
This page of Lincoln Cents offers Business Strike coins.
Business Strike Lincoln Cents are manufactured by the
US Mint for the purpose of enabling commerce. They are
distributed to banks and credit unions nationwide and are
used for spending.
Proof Lincoln Cents will be offered here when they are
issued in the Summer of 2009. Proof Lincoln Cents are
minted on high quality planchets and are struck at least
twice. These coins typically have a mirrored background
and cameo foreground objects (devices), for example the
bust of Lincoln. These coins are primarily made for
collectors.
